More Hype re: AT&T

An article in todays New York Times reports on more of the AT&T nonsense—touching on the data-mining, and going into the NSA gateway center. A room is purported to exist inside of AT&T in which intelligence agents have access to all data flowing through their networks. This brings forth ghosts of Big Brother and other such terrifying metaphors in the apoca-futurist sense. Of course, these operations merely 'bore the markings of' NSA. Really, I'd rather it be the government than the private sector.

To be honest, I'm more afraid of the government being able to 'gain access to millions of private e-mail messages and other Internet traffic' that goes through their networks. Once again, this is very scary!

You are afraid more of the government than of private corporations? Why? Of course, I'm counting on inhuman filters flagging potentially dangerous content—a disconnect of the data from the human, until said content is deemed indicative of a threat.
